FAQ

Which animals can be seen on the farm and during the safaris?

Numerous native wild animals live on the farm and in the Khomas Highlands, including oryx, kudu, springbok, zebras, wildebeest, giraffes, warthogs and various species of antelope. Depending on the season and time of day, guests may also spot smaller mammals and a wide variety of birds at waterholes and along the driving routes.

What does a typical safari day at Khomas Highland look like?

A typical safari day usually begins early in the morning with a drive in a 4x4 vehicle, when temperatures are still pleasant and most animals are active. At midday, guests return to the lodge to enjoy a break with meals and relaxation, before heading out again in the late afternoon for more wildlife viewing and a sundowner in the African evening light.

Are the 4x4 vehicles comfortable and suitable for photo safaris?

The 4x4 vehicles used are open or semi-open safari vehicles with elevated seats, giving guests a good all-round view for wildlife observation and photography. The vehicles are designed for the partly hilly terrain of the Khomas Highlands and offer comfortable seating, storage space for cameras, and usually blankets or rain ponchos for different weather conditions.

How far is it from Windhoek to the farm and how is the transfer arranged?

The farm in the Khomas Highlands is located about 1.5 to 2 hours’ drive from Windhoek, depending on the route and road conditions. Guests are usually picked up directly at Windhoek airport and comfortably transported by vehicle to the lodge, so no self-arranged travel is necessary.

What accommodation and catering can safari guests expect?

Guests stay in comfortable rooms or lodge-style chalets with bathrooms, often with a terrace or a view of the surrounding landscape or a waterhole. Catering generally includes full board with freshly prepared meals combining Namibian cuisine and international dishes, as well as cosy evenings in the lounge or bar area.

What non-hunting activities are available besides game drives?

In addition to classic game drives, depending on the farm, light guided walks, small-calibre shooting at the shooting range, trips to viewpoints, as well as relaxation at the pool or on the terrace are offered. Some establishments in the Khomas Highlands also offer farm tours, birdwatching or optional day trips to other regions of Namibia.

Is a safari suitable for families and non-hunting companions?

The Khomas Highlands are considered a quiet and safe region, making safaris very suitable for families and non-hunting companions, as there is plenty of nature, wildlife viewing and relaxation. Reviews highlight that children and partners without hunting interests also greatly enjoy their stay due to the abundance of wildlife, the pool, the scenery and the family atmosphere.

When is the best time to travel for a safari in the Khomas Highlands?

For wildlife viewing, the dry months from around May to October are particularly attractive, as many animals gather at waterholes and the vegetation is lower. In the warm but not too hot winter season, daytime temperatures are pleasant, while mornings and evenings can be cool, so guests should prepare with several layers of clothing.

Is the area malaria-free?

Yes, the Khomas Highlands is a malaria-free area. Nevertheless, we recommend seeking medical advice before travelling.

What health precautions are required?

No special vaccinations are required. For necessary vaccinations or health precautions, please contact your doctor.

Do you also offer excursions to tourist destinations?

Yes, we organise excursions to attractions such as Windhoek, Etosha National Park, Sossusvlei, Swakopmund, Victoria Falls and the Okavango Delta.

A hunting experience that could not be better. Stalking, addressing, shot, instantly expired. Afterwards, a magnificent view of the zebra herd. Many thanks for a fantastic hunting day and my first game in Africa

Fantastic place to hunt. Lots of game. THANK YOU

Pierre-Paul & Lucie Allard

Great guide! 1 1/2 hours stalk through the mountains, zebra missed, oryx seen and then the kudu as a final reward. Next day Isaac was guiding successfully again. We saw hartebeest, blue wildebeest, black wildebeest, duiker, kudu, blesbok.. We decided to go for springbok and were successful from about 20m. What a pleasure...

Moritz Hagenmüller

I was guided by Philip, got my first blesbok. Beautiful area, exhausting but successful hunt. I am overjoyed with my long-dreamed-of trophy and would like to sincerely thank Dietmar and Philip.
